Manual Hot Stamping

The 86 is hot stamping made easy.  To apply the stamp, simply pull and crunch the handle.  The 86's smooth action mechanism lowers the heated die evenly against the foil and product being stamped.  Where the raised surface of the die meets the foil and product, the foil transfers, creating a permanent hot stamp.  The whole process takes 2-3 seconds from start to finish.

Multi-Line Typeholder

One of the best features of the Model 86 is its' self-centering, multi-line type holder.  Known as a ' chase ' , this is the part of the hot stamping press that gets hot and holds the stamping die.

As shown to the right, the chase flips up to the front when the chase lock handle is disengaged.  Once raised, this same handle is used to lock the chase in the upright position.

Turning either of the two black handles, the chase opens and closes from the center outwards.  Once the die is located, tighten the chase by hand, adjust the locking screws if necessary, and print.

Adjustable Foil Feed

The Model 86 come complete with a 2" wide, automatic foil feed.  The foil feed advances the foil an adjustable amount with every stamp.

As shown to the right, the foil feed is activated by a spring-loaded plunger.  When the print head is brought down, the plunger extends to it's maximum stroke.  The plunger is depressed on the upswing, turning a gear and roller that advance the foil.  By turning the threaded contact block on the top of the plunger, one adjusts the stroke, controlling the length of foil that gets advanced.

Sliding Table

The table of the Model 86 is mounted on a slide.  When unlocked, one can slide the table back and forth to either adjust the print position, or to help with loading and unloading an oversized part.

Adjustable Height

A subtle but potentially valuable feature of the Model 86 is the ability to adjust the height of the print head in relation to the print bed.  The 86 can do this because the printhead can be wound up or down a sturdy upright post.  The maximum clearance is 6".
